Wedgewood Teapot 1872
This was bought at auction in England around 40 years ago. The provenance supplied buy the auction house was that the tea pot was from the Wedgewood families personal collection. During same auction a painting thought to be worth twenty thousand pounds sold for over 200,000 pounds, due to identification error on the part of the in house expert, but caught by four local experts acting on the behalf of various interested private buyers and dealers. This is only important in that the event made the BBC news and gives us a place to trace this piece back in time, for those like myself who enjoy playing detective. The painting went on the block and four men in suits stood in the back and fought for it. This tea pot was bought for over a thousand pounds, and on the right day, at the right place, it is worth that and then some, but this is just my belief, you decide for your own person.
